The connector system for our flooring is C2C-certified. C2C stands for Cradle to Cradle, which means the materials remain in circulation from one generation to the next. It’s one of the most radical sustainability concepts today. Raw materials are not consumed in the production of textiles or other products. Instead, they are merely used and returned to nature later on in the form of nutrients. Energy is used efficiently in production. If a product is ultimately no longer needed, it can be composted or recycled and thus used as a raw material for new products.
C2C was invented and developed by German process engineer Michael Braungart and American architect William McDonough. They published their book on Cradle to Cradle in 2002 and are in the process of implementing their Utopian idea of refuse-free closed-cycle economics, primarily in the Netherlands but increasingly in Germany
and the United States. More and more products feature designs that meet C2C guidelines: like our flooring, for example! That’s why it’s such a great fit for our Fair for Future concept.
